Prof. Arul Immanuel

Prof. Immanuel serves as a Consultant in General and Upper Gastrointestinal surgery at the Northern  Oesophago-Gastric Unit, Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne. He has pioneered oesophago-gastric surgery in Newcastle and currently performs the most number of robotic oesophago-gastric resections in the UK and specialises in advance laparoscopic and benign oesophago-gastric conditions and a minimally invasive approach to cancer of the oesophagus and stomach.  

Prior to his appointment in Newcastle, Prof. Immanuel completed a two year fellowship at the upper GI and hepato-pancreatic and biliary unit in Adelaide, Australia. In addition he he had further training to develop his skills in Japan, Hong Kong, China, Netherlands and Germany.

Combined with his comprehensive Surgical skills, Prof. Immanuel provides advanced diagnostics and therapeutic endoscopy including ERCP. 

Prof. Immanuel is committed to clinical research, has collaborated in multiple research projects and publications, and is a well respected speaker Nationally and Internationally.
